Williamson County Master Gardeners Association, Inc. Grant Guidelines
The Williamson County Master Gardeners Association, Inc. (WCMGA) currently provides volunteer assistance and/or financial grants for projects that meet our fundamental values of volunteerism and education. These can best be described as projects that make a difference in our community by promoting self-less service in community beautification and/or projects that extend horticultural educational opportunities to all in the community. Grant or assistance requests that complement that purpose are most likely to receive approval. On the other hand, projects that involve for-profit entities are not likely to be received positively. Always, the current commitment of WCMGA funds and volunteers will also be strong determinants in approval or disapproval.
Two types of grants are available and forms must be submitted for each type of grant including:
* Educational Grant Application-grants to teachers/students
* Horticultural Grant Application-grants to benefit community
Grant Guidelines
1. All projects must be submitted on one of the official grant forms, which can be found on this website, or from a WCMGA Board Member.
2 All projects should be horticultural-related.
3. WCMGA focuses on grants to teachers and students for horticultural-related projects that are not funded by the school budgets.
4. The project should be creative and inspiring.
5. It should be in Williamson County, although exceptions can be made for local 4-H members.
6. Past history with the applicant will be reviewed.
7. Cost and number of persons impacted will affect approval.
8. It should be for a not-for-profit entity, although exceptions could be made in unusual circumstances.
9. All grant programs are approved on a one-time basis only and should be concluded within the time frame indicated on the request form, but clearly within the calendar year in which they are approved.
10. Grant applications should have one contact person accountable for the project's update, cost, and completion.
11. Monies can be partially distributed as needed, with payment in full when the project is near completion and/or as funds are needed.
12. Any monies not used by the end of the calendar year should be returned to WCMGA.
13. If a grant is made, WCMGA expects a brief written report at the completion of the project.
